It took me forever to get around to doing it, but I whooped up this drawing for the Hunt sisters’ Art for Japan charity auction today.

I knew I wanted to draw a samurai, so we have that element.

But I didn’t know what I wanted to have him doing, so I flipped through my sketchbook and came across this weird drawing:

Then I just decided ‘What the hell’ and threw the two elements together and did this real quick sketch [pardon the low self-esteem that shows up near the sketch]. I liked it and then busted out the final image you see above.

The lesson here is no matter how dumb or weird a drawing in your sketchbook might be, you never know when it’s going to come in handy!
